”Philosophically," a reader asks — rhetorically, we think — following the totally-false big scary government shutdown showdown last Friday, "is it a conflict of interest when 'takers' — those who live off government largesse — vote in elections? By doing so, they're further enriching themselves by electing politicians who promise them more of other people's money.
“How is it that the majority of the population is now in a position to demand more of the 'providers' by electing politicians who promise to confiscate more wealth for redistribution?”
[Sound Of cannons has always maintained that no one taking any government handouts and no govcernment workers should be allowed to vote. Only property owners in the private sector should be allowed to vote. SOC. Ed]
