While We're Putting Them Up, Poland Is Taking Them Down

Now this is what I call "progressive!"
Poland to pass law to allow removal of communist-era monuments
Warsaw /16/05/ 17:11
Poland's governing party on Tuesday presented a draft law that would encourage local authorities to remove street names and monuments that glorify communist rule. The law will "help us close the chapter on communism, the inglorious past that we went through after World War II," said Marek Kuchcinski, the leader in parliament of Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski's Law and Justice party. The law could take effect within a few months. It would require the state to cover the costs of removing monuments and changing names.Kuchcinski insisted that the law was directed against no one and was unrelated to tense Polish-Russian relations.
