Ron Paul Has A Real Health Plan

Dr. Ron Paul's Freedom of Health-Care Plan

As health care becomes more and more expensive, more bound up with red tape and regulations, many people would like more freedom to make their own decisions without permission from their insurance company or the government.
According to Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, a Republican presidential candidate, "Health care should not be left up to HMOs, big drug companies, and government bureaucrats." Nevertheless, the congressman concedes that health care will always be expensive.
If health-care bureaucracies were diminished, however, aside from the temporary large-scale unemployment that would result and the saving of millions of trees that would otherwise go to supplying the bureaucratic paper trail, responsibility for health would reside where it belongs—in our hands. Ron Paul's health-care plan includes:
1. Making all medical expenses tax-deductible.2. Eliminating federal regulations that discourage small businesses from providing coverage.3. Giving doctors the freedom to collectively negotiate with insurance companies to drive down the cost of medical care.4. Making every American eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), and removing the requirement that individuals must obtain a high-deductible insurance policy before opening an HSA.5. Reform licensure requirements so that pharmacists and nurses can perform some basic functions to increase access to care and to lower costs.
HMOs and other insurance companies limit the doctors a person may choose from. In most cases, doctors of alternative medicine are not included. A family paying $1,000 a month for insurance could put that money in an HSA, choose their doctor, acupuncturist, chiropractor, or other licensed health-care provider, and discuss payments with them.
In order to become more independent from the system and stay healthy, millions of Americans are assuming responsibility for their health by researching and taking dietary supplements.
One threat to health freedom is the Codex Alimentarius Commission, part of the World Trade Organization (WTO), which aims to regulate the potency of vitamins and make them by prescription-only for all members of the WTO.
In Congress, Ron Paul does his best to protect our health freedoms, such as introducing the Health Freedom Act H.R. 2117, and supporting the Access to Medical Treatment Act, H.R. 2717, "which expands the ability of Americans to use alternative medicine and new treatments."
He also opposes legislation increasing the FDA's legal powers as the "FDA has consistently failed to protect the public from dangerous drugs, genetically modified foods, dangerous pesticides, and other chemicals in the food supply. Meanwhile they waste public funds attacking safe, healthy foods and dietary supplements." Dr. Ron Paul's Freedom of Health-Care Plan
